UCF Rosen College of Hospitality Management: Student Accessibility Comments

When entering the parking lot of Kobe Japanese Steakhouse you will first notice the seemingly small parking lot in the front. Here you will find accessible parking, Although it is very common for the front parking lot to be full. In which case you will need to venture to the bigger back parking lot behind the restaurant. Here there are plenty of parking spaces but no accessible parking spots. The entrance to the restaurant is a step free ramp and the doorway is a 2 door wide entry way. If you were to park in the back parking lot there is a no step ramp to the sidewalk that leads you directly to the entrance of the restaurant. When approaching the front entrance you will take notice as the host very politely will open the door for you and let you in.

Once inside the facility it is completely level ground from there. There are absolutely no steps in the entire restaurant. At either side of the front lobby are located the bathrooms. They are kind of a tight entrance both doorways being in a corner adjacent to a wall. Once inside the bathrooms however it is very spacious. The handicap bathroom was very clean and very roomy. Grab bars are available at either side of the restroom. As you move into the body of the restaurant it splits into 3 sections. The bar, the traditional seating arrangements, and the hibachi grill top group tables. In the traditional section there are many booths and only a few tables which would be able to accommodate a wheelchair. All tables were at a perfect height, no high tops in the traditional section. The bar however was not as friendly. There were 2 booths and the rest were high tops. There are really not too many places to sit while you are visiting the bar.

As you move into the main dining hall it is more spacious. Each table accommodates up to 10 guest and your wheelchair will easily take the spot of one of the chairs on the sides. It appears the middle section of the table has less leg room. maneuvering through the restaurant is easy with walkways dividing the tables and connecting the different sections of the restaurant.

The restaurant is very easily accessible. The ambiance is very fun and friendly. The overall experience was great. Our chef was entertaining and cooked very good food. The staff was very friendly and polite and helpful. The bathrooms were spacious and the main dining hall was as well. The bar was mostly high top seating and not very wheelchair accessible.
