UCF Rosen College of Hospitality Management: Student Accessibility Comments

The Hilton Orlando is a convention and leisure escape property, with over 1,400 rooms. The main lobby area is easily accessible, and the property boasts seven food and beverage outlets that are open throughout the day. Each of these restaurants has either a normal dining room set up and/or a lower sitting lounge area for food service. In Room Dining is served late into the evening. The pool area includes a main pool, a quiet adult pool, and a lazy river. Each of these areas has a pool chair lift, and the intertubes are free to rent for the lazy river. The property offers valet and self parking, both of which are attached to the hotel, so guests do not have to travel too far to utilize either option. The accessible rooms are spacious, and are within close proximity to the elevators for easy access, but they are far enough away from the elevator banks, so guests in these rooms are not affected by foot traffic. Bed height was about 28 inches, and there was a 36 inch clearance between beds, for the double queen room.  Overall, the property is clean, well kept, and has a lot of wonderful outlets, both for food and for activities.

The Hilton Orlando is very accommodating for guest that are Wheelchair accessible. The front door has sliding glass doors but on the side it also provides the option to press the button for the doors to automatically open. There are no steps to get to the front desk, once arriving to the front desk there are 2 pods on each side that have been lowered for people that are in wheelchairs. The hotel has several options for Accessible rooms, such as rooms with 2 beds with the space wide enough for a wheelchair to fit or they also have rooms with Roll in showers that have king beds looking out towards the resort. Each Wheelchair accessible room has a roll in shower with a shower chair and a shower hose. When you step out and decide to enjoy our amenities we have elevators that will take you to our lower level where the pool is and our spa and fitness center. None of these amenities have steps that you need to take, so it makes the commute easier. The pool has an accessible chair so you are also able to enjoy the outside area, The hotel is very long so if you are here for leisure everything is in the same area, but if you come for business the ballrooms and all of our boardrooms are on the opposite side of the elevators so it does take a little bit longer to get there, You do have the options of either doing self parking or valet, if you decide to self park there are handicapped parking spots on all 3 levels of the parking garage and they are all close to the lobby elevators.

The Hilton Orlando is a massive convention hotel that is home to many restaurants and amenities. It is a great place to stay or even just visit for one of the many conferences it houses on any given day. The hotel offers Valet and Self Parking, with competitive rates for both options. Self parking is very accessible with many handicap spots on every level, and they even offer special handicap parking for team members. There are many restaurants open throughout the day on this property. Each restaurant has a standard bar and comfortable dining areas for everyone in the family to enjoy. The pool area is expansive with a total of two pools, three hot tubs, a lazy river, water slide, and splash park. There are also fire pits by the pool, where they sell s’mores kits for people to roast marshmallows. The rooms are very nice, but can be a little tight if you need two beds in the room, however the bathrooms are large and easy to maneuver in. The staff is very friendly and very willing to accommodate any request. They even send welcome texts messages at check in that they suggest guests use, should they need any thing or have questions throughout the stay. The hotel is also connected to the Orlando County Convention Center by a sky bridge, so guests do not have to go to street level to get to the Convention Center. Biggest downside to the hotel, is if you are there for a conference, you may have to move around quite a bit, as the conventions spaces are all over the hotel. The spaces are massive and can have convention goers making long treks too and from meetings. Overall great hotel for leisure and business!
