UCF Rosen College of Hospitality Management: Student Accessibility Comments

Gringos Locos is a food truck turned fast-casual Mexican restaurant. The location I visited in particular is located on the University of Central Florida’s main campus. There are several available spots located directly in front of the restaurant; however, there are several other restaurants and popular establishments in the same strip that share parking. There is 1 handicapped spot located on the side of the building about 2o feet away. From the parking lot to get to the door there is a curb, but about 2o feet to the right is a step free entrance to get to the sidewalk. There are two large double door entrances that are both step free. The entire dining room is fairly spacious with room between all table areas except for the high-tops located directly in the middle. However, there are tables located around the edges of the high-tops and against the wall. There is a large blocked off aisle that begins at one front entrance that stretches to the cashier where you order, pay for, and receive your meal before sitting down. There are also two single-person bathrooms. These bathrooms have large door entries, are step free. The bathrooms are both spacious and allow for full range of motion with a wheelchair. There are two hand bars on the walls beside and above the toilet.

Gringos Locos is an awesome fast casual restaurant for anyone, but especially students. It’s located on campus which is extremely convenient for both students living on and off campus. The parking is a slight issue for handicapped individuals due to how busy of a campus it is and how little parking there is directly in front of the restaurant. However there are two parking garages nearby, but not extremely close. The food is great (I recommended the double d’s!) and a fast experience if you’re just looking for a quick bite to eat. The atmosphere is very vibrant and fun with painted murals playing Top 40 hits music. The dining room is spacious and leaves plenty of room for a wheelchair to travel through. There are majority high-top tables located directly in the middle of the dining room which don’t have too much room between them. However, there are tables against the wall and wrapped around the high-tops that are accessible to wheelchairs. The bathrooms are clean and have plenty of room. There are also other features such as the hand bars located on the walls around the toilet and the lower sink that is accessible in a wheelchair. Overall I believe this location is reasonably accessible. The inside of the restaurant is very easy to move about and plenty of tables to eat at. My one warning about this specific location would be the lack of convenient parking and be ready to travel a bit if you are unfortunate enough to have to park in the parking garage.
