Wheelchair Accessibility Comments

  • Included in the Book 1,000 Places to See Before You Die. Absolutely spectacular private setting and views of Lake Tarawere.
  • The Lodge has 1 wheelchair accessible room in a stand-alone building, the Solitaire Room, but the ramp to enter this room is quite steep (you will need assistance). No steps but a very steep ramp.
  • The bathroom is quite large but the doorway and hallway leading to the bathroom are narrow (my 24 1/2 inch wheelchair barely made it including 2 right turns).
  • The bedroom and sitting area is enormous. The private bedroom patio deck is large and accessible with breathtaking views.
  • The downstains main Lodge building has no steps on the lower level.
  • There is an accessible lobby restroom but I doubt wider power chair users could access it.
  • Very pricey but what a memory!
