The renowned Merriman’s, set on the Kapalua oceanfront area of Maui, is one of the finest, most elegant restaurants on Maui and has long been one of our favorites. And it’s totally wheelchair friendly! The main dining level is step free and there are multiple accessible tables in the open air spacious dining room. In September 2019 we dined on the Mahi-Mahi with Macadamia Nut Crust (see picture) and as usual it was fabulous. Merriman’s offers an excellent wine list and assorted Hawaiian cocktails, and the service is consistently friendly and simply terrific! They also offer several dining tables on a lower waterfront level, but to access these you’ll need to take a small wheelchair hydraulic lift. The beautiful bar area is basically a circular high table top with bar stools. They have a large fully accessible restroom.
Valet parking is the easiest when you arrive, although self parking is available but a longer distance from the front entry. There’s an easy ramp to the front door to avoid the entry steps.
The huge casual oceanfront seating area overlooking the bay serves drinks and appetizers, and is accessible via a long easy ramp along the side of Merriman’s. Ask the hostess for directions. We’ve sat out there a couple times and it’s spectacular!
On the WJAR rating index, Merriman’s gets a 5! Although the restaurant has 2 separate small hydraulic lifts, you don’t need to use them for a fully accessible, step free dining experience. Merriman’s is one of Maui’s best and is a must visit!. You will love it!
