Mama’s Fish House: Hello travelers, Aloha, I’m rolling through Hawaii today and have stopped at Mama’s Fish House in Paia (pah-ee-ah). on the island of Maui which is about 15 minutes from the Kahaluli Airport or an hour from the Kaanapoli area on the west side of the island. We’ve been here a half a dozen times over the years and Mama’s never disappoints. This is always a Memory where the true spirit of Aloha permeates the restaurant and everything is very wheelchair friendly.

When you drive in here you’ll find valet only parking on the top of a reasonably high embankment but an absolutely beautiful ramped stone path takes you down to the restaurant and beach cove. The path is a bit long but the grade is never too steep and it is plenty wide. And frankly the beach cove setting here is like non other in the world – it is true Hawaiian paradise and spectacular. Mama’s has been expanded over the years, it’s quite large now, and they’ve made everything very accessible. All the tables are spaciously arranged and accessible, both bar areas are accessible (2 of the most beautiful bars you will ever see), and there are no steps anywhere. The newly designed wheelchair accessible restroom is at the back of the restaurant (and you might need to ask directions) and without a doubt it is the largest, most beautifully appointed restaurant restroom you will ever encountered. And in general, the restaurant, the interior and setting is one of the most beautiful you will ever see, and with a true Polynesian atmosphere.

And in my opinion, the food, drinks, deserts and service are the best in all of Maui and Hawaii. It’s also by far the most expensive.

On the WJAR Index, Mama’s Fish House gets 5. It is very wheelchair accessible. And it’s not just my favorite Hawaiian restaurant, it’s my favorite restaurant in the world. This is special. Trust me, You must come and visit Mama’s if you get to Maui. Aloha Travelers!
