Visiting Hampton Inn and Suites Dupont Road
Purdue University Fort Wayne Hospitality Student Travel Tips:
Upon arrival, there are multiple van accessible spots near the entrance with curb ramps that lead to a wide automatic door. A flush transition into the lobby will take you to the front desk, which has a section that sits at about 33 inches tall. Most of the furniture in the lobby is non-stationary, with wide openings to navigate the common area and continental breakfast buffet.
The main-level bathrooms are single-stall and with proper spacing beneath the sink, grab bars, and everything well within reach. There is 1 room with a roll-in shower and king-size bed specifically for mobility accommodations. This specific room had a wide area around the bed to navigate and a wide space to enter the room. There are also mobility rooms available with 2 queen-size beds. These rooms are available to conjoin with the adjacent room.
The office space in the lobby downstairs was very accessible regarding the weight of the door, width of the doorway to enter the room, reachability to computer supplies, and space underneath desks. The pool area has a pool lift upon request, which was noted through signage and its own accessible shower and single-stall restroom similar to the one in the lobby.
Although there is no restaurant on site, only continental breakfast, a Culver’s sits in the adjacent parking lot, about 0.3 miles from entrance to entrance. There is an area for animal relief with supplies to pick up animal waste right off the sidewalk. Their staff is eager to accommodate their guests and even has connections with a local disability athletic center. They are able to work together oftentimes to accommodate a large number of guests who need accommodation at one time. Overall, the hotel is clean, spacious, and is willing to accommodate their guests to the best of their ability.
