UCF Rosen College of Hospitality Management: Student Accessibility Comments

Coronado springs resort is a very well-known resort, it’s the size of the Disney Magic Kingdom park so it’s a very big resort. The resort had 1917 rooms about 4 months ago. However, they just built The Gran Destino, a 16-story tower with over 500 rooms, a roof top restaurant and bars. That puts Coronado at over 2400 rooms. On that note, one would think that it’s the most difficult resort to get around for someone using the wheelchair, however, it is very accessible to accommodate a person using a wheelchair or a motorized scooter. Being that I’ve worked at the resort for a little over 3 years now, I’ve had many experience where I’ve had the opportunity to work with guests who use wheelchairs. The rooms are very wide and the beds are very low and also they have the ADA pool lift to help the guest who aren’t capable of getting into the pool themselves to use. Although they might have a review done on this resort, I’ve mainly focused on the new 540 room Gran Destino tower which was opened on July 9th of 2019.

The Coronado Springs has many food options for people using wheelchairs or motorized scooters and the rooms are very spacious and accessible. The bathroom are well built. To get to the roof top restaurant you simply go to the elevator and clock which floor you want to go to, and then it’ll take you straight to your destinations.
