Wheelchair Jimmy Accessibility Comments
We stayed here 2 night during our October 2018 fall foliage tour of New England on our way to Boston after visiting Newport RI . The hotel is very nice, fully wheelchair accessible but I expected a bit more from the famed Biltmore name.
When you enter the hotel it’s step free and there’s a large beautiful lobby. There’s both valet parking and a self-park garage, and the valet permitted us to park our van on the front curb during our stay.
We stayed in room 529 which was huge and very wheelchair accessible. The bed height was 24 inches and there was 7 inches under the bed and room for a Hoyer Lift, if needed. The bathroom was reasonably large with a roll-in shower, grab bars, but no shower chair. The room and bathroom were quite nice and well furnished but a bit dated. The hotel has a total of 5 accessible rooms with a combination of roll-in and tub showers. Temporary plastic shower chairs are available.
Interestingly, our friends had a non ADA room and it was the smallest room they had during our 17 day trip. You could hardly turn around in the room or bathroom. You expect more from Biltmore.
Our first night we ate dinner in the hotel’s adjoining McCormick and Schmick’s Seafood and Steak restaurant which we always enjoy and had a typical great meal. The entire restaurant was spacious, on one level and step free. There is a large wheelchair accessible restroom, however, it’s located in the kitchen. Really? There is no other accessible restroom off the Biltmore’s main lobby. The only other downstairs accessible restrooms are on the hotel’s mezzanine level (locked except for business meetings) and the adjoining Starbucks.
On the WJAR index the Providence Biltmore receives a 4. It’s a very nice accessible property, well located and spacious but it’s not a Favorite. It’s an old property, and normally I like old, historic hotels. But this Biltmore just seems a bit tired.

The Providence Biltmore is fully wheelchair accessible with spacious guest rooms, a McCormick & Schmick’s restaurant and Starbucks. But it’s looking a bit old and tired. I expected more from the Biltmore name.
