Opened in 1957, just a few blocks north of downtown Phoenix, and with several major additions over the years, The Phoenix Art Museum is to me the finest art museum in Phoenix. It is well organized and easy to navigate in a wheelchair. There are great permanent exhibits including European, American, Latin American, Modern and Contemporary Art and Fashion collections. The featured exhibition tour when I visited was a huge collection of Andy Warhol portraits – all very wheelchair accessible. The museum is very spacious with large elevators to all levels, a few wide easy ramps, and several large wheelchair accessible restrooms. When you visit here, there is plenty of wheelchair accessible parking with an easy ramped entrance. And it’s just a block and a half from the Phoenix Metro Light Rail station (and of course the Phoenix Light Rail is very wheelchair accessible).
