Wheelchair Jimmy Comments:
We stayed at the elegant Portland Harbor Hotel in the Old Port District of Portland Maine in October 2018 as we toured New England on our fall foliage trip, and we had a fabulous experience. The hotel is a bit expensive but the entire hotel is very wheelchair friendly including it’s elegant restaurant, bar and lobby area.
The accessible room we stayed in (229) was spacious and beautifully decorated. The bed height was 27 inches and there was plenty of space to accommodate a Hoyer lift. The bathroom was spacious as well. The roll-in shower did not have an attached bench seat. A temporary shower seat is available. When showering, there is no shower lip and some water can drain into the rest of the bathroom.
We enjoyed a delightful dinner at their elegant BlueFin Restaurant which was fully wheelchair accessible.
You can enter the hotel on Fore St and take the elevator up to the lobby, or alternatively you can valet park and take an elevator to the lobby.
The Portland Harbor Hotel is absolutely fabulous and totally wheelchair accessible. And the Old Port District in Portland is definitely the place to stay and totally charming. I highly recommend the hotel .
