Wheelchair Accessibility Comments

• Hotel Penn  is huge with 1,700 guestrooms. It’s located directly across the street from Penn Station and Madison Square Garden and is very wheelchair accessible although there are a couple challenges.
• The entrance has 5-6 steps but there’s a easy ramp and “most” hotel common areas are step free.
• There are 25 wheelchair accessible rooms and all have roll-in showers. The hotel’s accessible rooms include their classic budget rooms as well as renovated Penn 5000 Club Rooms. There’s a mixture oF king and queen beds. The rooms are quite spacious at 300-400 sq. ft. The classic budget rooms have a bit more space.
• All accessible rooms have roll-in showers and some (not all) have attached pull-down bench seats. Temporary shower chairs are available in the other rooms.
• Surprisingly, this huge hotel has no restaurants or bars, only a coffee shop which also offers pastries. Restaurants and bars are located across the street and reasonably nearby.
• There is a hotel accessible restroom located on the 18th floor and it’s accessible via elevator.
• WARNING: There is no accessible restroom on the lobby level. WARNING: The hotel has a basement level which includes a wheelchair accessible restroom and various meeting rooms. To access the basement restroom or these meeting rooms, you must use a dreaded small hydraulic WC lift. Painful!
• The Penn Plaza Pavillion is on the main lobby level and is accessible.
• Valet and self parking is available.
• JIM’S NOTE: It’s nearly impossible to speak via phone to the front desk or a real live person. Very frustrating. That all said, the hotel is priced well and is wheelchair accessible.
