Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort is a large Caribbean-themed Moderate resort located at Walt Disney World around Barefoot Bay. Guests are welcomed to the resort at Old Port Royale, which is the central area of the property. The resort also has the five room sections of Barbados, Martinique, Aruba, Jamaica, and Trinidad, referred to as “Islands” by resort Cast Members. All islands are accessible from Old Port Royale by pathway, however an internal resort shuttle bus is also available.
Old Port Royale contains the resort Front Desk/Guest Services, Centertown Market food court, Sebastian’s Bistro table service restaurant, Calypso Trading Post shop, Banana Cabana bar, and the feature pool – Fuentes del Morro. All of Old Port Royale is accessible by wheelchair, as all areas are step-free or have a ramp, and accessible restrooms are available in both the lobby area and the Centertown Market.
The Fuentes del Morro feature pool is themed like an ancient fort in the Caribbean, has a zero-step entry side as well as an ADA pool lift, and hot tubs with ADA lifts. This is where a lot of the recreational activities take place at the resort. Each Island also has a quiet pool with ADA lift.
Bus transportation is provided to all of the Disney theme parks, water parks, and Disney Springs via bus stops located at each section of the resort, with the furthest park being approximately 15 minutes away. All buses have wheelchair ramps, and each bus stop on property has a wheelchair area so that the bus driver can prioritize wheelchair loading. Starting towards the end of 2019, transportation to Epcot and Hollywood Studios will also be available using the Disney Skyliner gondolas.
Disney’s Magical Express provides complimentary transportation to and from Orlando International Airport, which is approximately 30-45 minutes away. Accessible motorcoaches are available at request when making your Magical Express reservation.
Important note: Each room building of the resort has two floors, with the second floor only being accessible by staircase. All wheelchair accessible rooms are located on the first floor, so there should be no problems in that regard, but if you don’t book in a wheelchair accessible room, be sure to request first floor if you can’t traverse stairs.
