Wheelchair Accessibility Comments

  • WARNING: Hotel to AVOID. Not wheelchair friendly. Part of the National Trust Historic Hotels of America but not wheelchair friendly. It has been “grandfathered” and need not be ADA compliant.
  • This landmark Inn opened in 1927 and has hosted many movie stars and President Bush.
  • Located on a steep section of Gurley St, there are multiple steps throughout the Inn.
  • WARNING: Access within hotel is limited.
  • There is an old elevator which can ONLY be operated by the hotel; also steep ramps in hotel.
  • Rooms are very small. The hotel states they have 2 wheelchair accessible bathrooms (#209 and #309); these bathrooms are very small and certainly not ADA compliant.
  • Limited accessible parking; best parking is the lot across the street but no handicapped spaces.
  • I enjoyed seeing this historic Inn but will not stay here again.
