IndyGo is a Municipal Corporation of Indianapolis – Marion County and the largest public transportation provider in the state of Indiana. It operates 31 bus routes throughout the county, providing 10.29 million passenger trips in 2014.
Jim's Comments:
IndyGo is the Indianapolis metro bus transit system and all of its buses are wheelchair accessible. IndyGo's Route 8 offers accessible buses from the airport to downtown 7 days a week.

Go Express offers an accessible bus (with a lift) from the Indy airport to downtown Indy for $10 but service is limited and not all buses are accessible. They operate out of Bloomington Indiana but have about 6 buses serving the Indianapolis area and about 50% are wheelchair accessible. You need to call them in advance so they schedule an accessible bus. Frankly, after speaking with them, I'm not sure I'd trust them.
Accessible Van Rentals
Jim's Comments:
Accessible van rentals are a bit expensive and cost $100-$150 per day plus mileage. Many charge an additional $50-$90 for airport delivery and pick-up services. Some rental companies will not add hand controls or provide transfer/swivel seats, preferring to rent to able bodied persons who drive persons confined to wheelchairs.

The Yellow Indianapolis Cab company offers ADA compliant Ford Windstar vehicles with fully modified lowered floor and rear-entry access. The Taxis can accommodate up to 6 riders including the driver and one passenger in a wheelchair. now even has a mobile app for calling a wheelchair accessible taxi (which I haven't yet tried). Please let me know if it actually works.

Amtrak is essentially owned and operated by the U.S. Government. It is very aware of ADA regulations and is quite accommodating of wheelchairs. Seating for wheelchairs is limited so call in advance and inform Amtrak of any special needs. Seating is on the lower level on specific railway cars equipped with fully ADA compliant restrooms.
- Certain cars are also equipped for overnight wheelchair passenger sleeping. There is a small separate room which includes an accessible bathroom.
- All trains are accessible from the loading platform by a removable ramp which the conductor puts in place for wheelchair passengers.
- Dining and lounge areas are on the second level and are not generally accessible. Conductors, however, are available to bring food and beverages to passengers requiring assistance.
