Ranked the #1 attraction in Phoenix, Arizona, the Musical Instrument Museum (MIM) is the only museum in the world devoted to global musical instruments. MIM opened its doors to the public on April 24, 2010, and immediately became recognized as a fun, family-friendly, worldwide tourist destination. It includes exhibits for every country in the world, along with exhibits that offer an insider’s view of how some instruments are made, how they are played, or the varied contexts in which they are used. Jim’s Accessibility Comments:

Spectacular new museum in northern Phoenix! Opened in 2010 at a cost of $150 million, it is outstanding. A MUST SEE if you like music! Beautiful, spacious and exceptionally wheelchair friendly. No steps anywhere. The exhibit halls, elevators and restaurant are well designed and easy to navigate with a wheelchair. Lots of handicapped parking spaces. Huge wheelchair accessible restrooms. Perhaps the most wheelchair accessible museum I have ever visited! If you like music, you really must visit. And plan a full day because it’s huge.
